Philip Eustace

Chairman


Philip Eustace is currently the Executive Director of Hyundai Motors New Zealand Limited which is wholly owned New Zealand company. His day to day responsibilities include government and corporate relationships, PR and managing the relationship and communication with the Hyundai Motor Company.

He has been working with the Hyundai brand since 1990.
Companies that he has worked prior to HMNZ are:

1975 -1978 New Zealand Motor Corporation- Motor Vehicles
1978- 1980 Frank M Winstone Ltd- Lily paper products and farm spray equipment
1980- 1986 NZ Express Transport- Trucking and freight forwarding

Michael
Park

Deputy Chairman


Michael Park has wide trade and commerce experience within the private sector, spanning nearly 30 years.  He has contributed substantially to the fostering of effective business relationships within all aspects of these industries, with particular emphasis on international relations between New Zealand and Korea. Michael has been a founding member of Korea New Zealand Business Council and currently the vice chairman.

Michael has accumulated an impressive network of business contacts in Korea. He has to date enjoyed the successful management of several companies and continues to be esteemed as a leader within the Korean Community in New Zealand. Michael has established the New Zealand Centre in Seoul, Korea, in 2005 and has been promoting New Zealand culture and education in particular as the chairman. Michael graduated from the Victoria University of Wellington majored in Economics.

 

 

 

 

Dr Richard Worth

Dr Richard Worth was first elected into office in 1999 as the MP for Epsom.  He was successfully re-elected as a list MP and secured the highest party vote in the country.

Prior to coming into Parliament Dr Worth was a litigation partner and later Chairman of New Zealand’s largest law firm, Simpson Grierson, specialising in public law

 

James Corke

Treasurer

James Corke is a director of Wiseman Digital Surveillance Ltd a CCTV security company which imports from Korea.

He is a previous Chairman of the Council.

James is a chartered accountant and holds an honours degree in Economics from London.

He has many directorships including extensive involvement in the NZ Film industry.

Ken Geard is a trade policy specialist with Fonterra. He has been involved with NZ trade policy with Korea over a number of years including the current FTA

Hwang


Tina Hwang has just finished her degree at the University of Auckland (LLB (Hons)) after also working full time for two years as a legal executive. She is the current president of Kowiana Association of New Zealand which is a charitable organisation primarily composed of young Kiwi adults of Korean Descent (“Kowi”) who share a vision of celebrating and promoting awareness of multicultural identity in New Zealand society. Tina is very involved in her church as a youth leader and loves inspiring and helping the youth community in addition to building relations between the Korean and New Zealand community and is excited at the opportunity to contribute to the Korean New Zealand Business Council. Tina wishes to assist New Zealanders to become "Asian literate" and for Asians to become "Kiwi literate" in the prospect of a more harmonious society based on better understanding.

David Kim

David Kim is a Senior Manager of ASB Korean Banking Centre, dedicated specialised service provider for Koreans in New Zealand for their financial needs, He is responsible for caring most Korean clients in New Zealand from the new immigrants to local Korean community. ASB is one of the largest banks in New Zealand and is the only bank in New Zealand, who has correspondent banking relationship with 5 major banks in Korea. With the degree in Law and military officer background as a member of Korean ROTC, He started his career as an investment banker in Corporate Finance and M&A department at the Ssangyong Investment Securities in Seoul from 1994, He moved to NZ for his Master degree of Finance and joined on to retail banking at ASB Bank in New Zealand since 2002.

Caroline Lassiter


Caroline has organised Auckland City’s involvement in trade fairs, expos and summits, and managed overseas trade and political missions through Asia, the Pacific, Europe and the USA.  Caroline works closely with Auckland’s mayor, the diplomatic corps, government departments, international trade organisations and New Zealand interest groups and businesses.

Caroline has active involvement in international affairs outside her Auckland City role.  She is the Chair of the International Languages Advisory board at Auckland University of Technology and a member of the corporate and business issues committee of the American Chamber of Commerce, the executive committee of the Korea - NZ Business Council and the NZ - US Business Council Advisory Board.

 

Sarah McLauchlan


Sarah has enjoyed a long association with Korea, dating back to the mid 70s when she resided in Seoul with her family.  During several postings to Japan with Tourism New Zealand she oversaw their activities in Korea until a dedicated office was established in Seoul.  She then went on to develop a series of Asia-wide programmes in her role as Business Manager with the Asia New Zealand Foundation, which included a series of seminars and events on the Korean market.  Before joining New Zealand Trade and Enterprise she ran the international division of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, which oversaw a number of Asia-focused business councils.  Sarah is currently New Zealand Trade and Enterprise's. International Market Manager for Japan and Korea.

Al Monro is CEO of NextWindow Limited, a developer and manufacturer of high tech optical touch screens for a range of industries, including consumer PC’s and monitors, digital information displays, and interactive displays for the education market.

Prior to joining NextWindow, Al was a Director of private equity company Invescor, and prior to that, worked for IBM both in New Zealand and Asia. He was a part of the IBM New Zealand executive team from 1990 to 2000, including roles as Auckland Regional manager, and national Sales Manager.

Twelve years experience on the trade development front line, as NZ Trade Commissioner in three different locations: Brussels, covering Benelux and Scandinavia; Vienna, covering Austria and the then Socialist countries of Eastern Europe; and Canberra - the time in Canberra was trade policy-based, involved with the negotiation and then the early operation of the CER Agreement. Eleven years as the Secretary of the Boards of Directors of the Market Development Board, the Trade Development Board, and Trade New Zealand/Tradenz, and in various general management roles. Since 1998, the Executive Director of three bilateral international business councils, and involved with occasional trade-related research projects.

Patrick Rata is presently Head of the Koreas and Japan Unit, Asia Division, New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.   His career in the Ministry has included working in areas of trade negotiations, United Nations, Middle East and Africa, and South Pacific.  Patrick has served on postings in New York and London.  He has also worked for a time as an official at the World Trade Organization Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland.
